Genetic Counseling

The Kaufman Cancer Center offers Genetic Counseling Services through the University of Maryland. The board-certified genetic counselor, has extensive experience with genetic counseling, which allows them to assist individuals and their families with the decision regarding testing and how to manage the results related to cancer risk and prevention. 

Items to consider for a referral to the KCC Genetic Counseling clinic:

  • Criteria for referral: 

    • Personal history of cancer

    • Family history of cancer

    • To determine medical treatment plan

  • Individuals are referred to the Genetic Counseling program through a variety of medical providers such as: primary care, gastroenterology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, or surgeons.
