UM Upper Chesapeake Health is available 24/7 to help you or your loved one through a mental health emergency.

We provide a range of compassionate, helpful services to those who are at immediate risk of harm due to their psychiatric distress.

Mobile Care Teams

Our coordinated mobile teams provide services wherever you are located—at home, work or the emergency department.

These teams consist of mental health professionals who can provide the following support during a psychiatric emergency:

  • Immediate assessment
  • Intervention
  • Psychiatric treatment

Teams work in partnership with other community resources including police, crisis intervention agencies, shelters and others.

Walk-In, Mental Health Urgent Care

The walk-in urgent care clinic at Klein Family Center in Bel Air is for anyone who seeks immediate mental health support. Open from 9 am to 9 pm, this clinic can provide:

  • 24/7 crisis counseling support
  • Same-day evaluations and intervention
  • One-to-one personalized care
  • An individualized treatment plan
  • Assistance with coordinating ongoing treatment
  • Peer coaches, who have been where you are right now, to support you along your way to recovery

If you plan to visit the walk-in clinic during the hours of 8 pm to 9 pm, please call ahead so we can assess together the best way to serve you. We want to make sure we are providing the best possible service to you.

Emergency Department Mental Health Services

Please call 911 or visit the emergency department if you or a loved one requires immediate care for the following:

  • Overdose
  • Attempted or threatened suicide
  • Medically unstable or is in need of lifesaving care
  • Violent or aggressive behavior
  • Individuals on an emergency petition (violent, suicidal)

UM Upper Chesapeake Health's emergency departments are located at UM Upper Chesapeake Medical Center Aberdeen and UM Upper Chesapeake Medical Center Bel Air.
